Shaded Barn

Yesterday's Watercolor Group painting fell together quickly compared to some attempts. Apparently, it pays to start with a couple of thumbnail sketches to try different formats and value arrangements, and to move on with a sketchbook color study.

About that sketchbook: I do have a regular, sketch-anything-in-pencil sketchbook, but I recently bought a 7" x 10" "Mix Media" book by Canson with the intention of working on (finishing!) a page every day. Or maybe every two days, with the drawing taking a day and the application of color taking the second. I'll work to the end of the book (40 pages) and after 80 small watercolor studies and paintings, I ought to see some obvious improvement, right?
