Full Metal Eggs

This was my first real gouache effort. I'd messed around with the medium a couple of times before on little sample swatches--and hated it--but I attempted this a different way than I'd tried in the past.

I initially watered the paints down and treated them like transparent watercolors (and left the background at that) and then added less and less water as I painted on. They're not really copper (as in metal) eggs, but they look like it, don't they? Guess I should have made them less shiny!
